Monte Christo Ministries is aware that one of the greatest problems in our communities is idle time. The after school and non-work times can be dangerous moments when poor life choices are made. Alcohol and drug abuse, crime and gang involvement are major problems for which we must provide an alternative. Active participation in sports programs is one of the solutions.

When children and young adults are provided sports opportunities, many positive things can happen. Through the development of clubs, leagues and organized programs, we can reach these valuable individuals and give them something healthy in which to invest their time. It helps the youth turn the corner toward a hopeful future. And most importantly, sports programs open doors to minister the love of Christ.
MCM programs are meant to reach individuals through sports. Specifically, we are developing programs and resources that will provide:
- Club and League administration and management
- Support and training for coaches
- Life skills and self-development courses
- Discipleship small groups
- Equipment and viable, safe locations
MCM Sports Update
For 2008, MCM was asked to take over the U15 and U13 boys soccer leagues. Last year, there were a total of 14 clubs involved. In two months of managing these leagues, the number of teams has grown to 69 with over 1,000 team members. Our director, Francisco Naude, is busy every weekend driving around in our newly provided Quantum running leagues, picking up and delivering teams and handling the issues that come with such growth. Pray for him!!!
