In 2006, MCM started efforts to obtain property in Paarl East specifically for the purpose of providing a safe, top quality multi-use facility and sports park for the surrounding underprivileged communities. The New Orleans Sports Ground was a perfect place. Neglected for at lease a decade, the property has a history of quallity sports and is located right across the street from Chicago and is close to other target communities.

The project represents a multi-national partnership that includes the Drakenstein Municipality, local organizations and supporters from both Europe and America. As is visible in the conceptual drawing above, the park will include three dedicated soccer pitches, a large multi-purpose field, four basketball/netball courts, playgrounds and a multi-purpose community center. The location is perfect to reach the local communities of Chicago, New Orleans and Magnolia as well as having reasonable access to Fairyland and Smartytown.

We signed the lease for the property in July, 2008 and are working at present to finalize development details and put together the construction team. Stay tuned for updates!
